I have some questions regarding form ds156k. It says "the following docs must be attatched in order to apply for a fiance nonimmigrant visa"....does this mean i have to send the docs with this form? I was under the impression that docs should be submitted on day of interview at embassy and not sent with any forms. Please advise! Also, on form ds156, there is a question "do you intend to work"...well yes i do intend to work when i can get to the usa but it asks me if yes then give full details of employer..welll i dont have an employer in the usa yet as i dont even have a work permit there yet!! Wbhat do i put for this question? I am still in the uk and applying for a fiance visa.
Also on this form, where is the section to make payment to bank for the visa fee>? I have read there should be a section on this form for me to make payment but there is no such section. Help!
Lastly, my son is 8 and will be attending school upon our entrance to the usa. The school he will be attending is a state school, Do i need to fill in flrm I-20 to send with this form? It says and submit proof of funding sufficient to cover first year of study...well where do i get that for him? Do i need to get that for him to send with this form?
please help!

hello julia, i also have a finance in england that i am trying to bring over. after you filed your first set of papers, how long did it take u to receive any thing?

Dear Anonymous:

We would suggest that you attach to form DS156K a copy of the required documents and indicate that the originals will be presented at the time of your final interview.

As for work, answer "Yes. No current employer; will seek employment after entry to US".

As for payment, you should check with the consulate in your home country to ascertain the fee, and the correct manner of payment.

If your son enters as a K-2, (the child of a fiancee), then he does not need to complete an I-20. He will be immediately eligible to attend school upon entry to the US. Good luck.

Hello Immigration help, its me again.
I am currently in the throws of the K1 visa application..so far we have just filed the I-129f petition with the Vermont service centre. I am the foreign national..brit...here in the uk. My question is what forms do I need to do next? I have all sorts of forms from the Embassy here...but not sure what needs sending or what needs to be taken personally to the embassy for my interview. The forms I have here are...
DS-156K
DS-230 PART 1
DS-230 PART 1 (FOR MY SON WHO WILL BE ON A K2 VISA)
IV15
IV15A
DS-2000
I-134
DS-156
DS-156 (FOR MY SON WHO WILL BE ON A K2 VISA)
That sure is a lotta forms! No wonder I am confused!! Please can you advise me which ones I post to the embassy and when I should post them. What about the part two of the DS-230? I dont seem to have that here and not sure why. I am getting in a real muddle with these forms so any plain talking on what I should send and when would be most appreciated. Many thanks. Just one other question...I havent sent a photo of my son with the I-129f petition. Is this ok>? It didnt say I should send one of him..just said one of myself and one of my fiance but I thought its worth checking. Can you advise?

By ImmigrationHelp on Friday, March 22, 2002 - 05:35 pm:

Dear Anonymous:

There is nothing to send to the consulate until the I-129F petition is approved. You will then be notified to send the appropriate forms to the consulate for you and your son. The package will also advise you as to what forms are necessary. Not all of the forms that you refer to will be necessary.

You did not have to send a photo of your son with the I-129F. Good luck.

ON the photo...the pose is correct but when I got them done I forgot to take my earrings out. I have two very small studs in my ear but you can see them in the pic. Do I have to get the pics redone or do they just mean dont wear big chunky ones?

Some questions regarding forms..
On the DS-230 part 1, do I sign this form or take it to the embassy and sign it there? Some forms need signing and some not..unsure which. On the DS-230 part 1, question 23 "educational institutes attended...course of study...Do I list all the subjects I took in that box or do I just put that they were GCSE's? There really isnt enuff room in the box to list them all!! Where it says..degree or diploma...do I just put that I passed all my GCSE's or do I have to list each one and grade? Again, not much room in that box.
On the same question it says "languages spoken or read",,,does that mean the ones I did at school? Because I learned french at school but dont speak or read any of it now. I am english.
On form DS156 that I have filled in for my child (daughter of fiance), question 19 asks what is purpose of trip. What do I put here? My daughter is accompanying me to the states as I am getting married.
Lastly, question 35 on the form DS156..signature of person preparing form..i have signed this box on behalf of my daughter as she is a child..but i havnt signed the bottom of form as i know its not supposed to be signed until i get to the embassy..is it ok that i have signed box 35?

Dear Anonymous:

You do not state for which type of application the photos were submitted. If they are for adjustment or immigrant visas, you will probably have to submit new photos, but you can do that at the time of your final interview. If they are simply for identification, then they are probably all right. Good luck.

By ImmigrationHelp on Sunday, March 24, 2002 - 09:28 pm:

Dear Anonymous:

If you send the DS230 to the consulate, then it should be signed.

Just put in your general course of studies, or the degree achieved.

Languages spoken or read, means languages that you read or speak now.

Purpose of your child's trip to the US is to accompany parent.

Your signing the form is not a problem. Good luck.

Dear Anonymous:

Your national identification number in the UK is your national insurance number. Good luck.

On the DS-230 form, my daughter is 9...do I still sign that form on her behalf as her parent or should she sign it as the applicant?
Also, on that same form..it asks me what occupation i intend to work in the united states...well I have no idea...i might go to college, i might work in a shop..I might not even work at all and instead raise some babies! What should I put for this question? The photo I enquired about was for these forms..K1 application.

When do I get form DS-230 part 2? It doesnt seem to be with part 1. Please advise.

By ImmigrationHelp on Tuesday, March 26, 2002 - 02:58 pm:

Dear Anonymous:

Yes, you will sign on behalf of your daughter. Just list any occupation that you believe you might engage in in the US.

The photos you submitted are fine for the K-1 petition.

Form DS-230, Part 2, can be downloaded from the State Department web site, or you can wait to have it sent to you at the time of the final interview. Good luck.

We are about to start the process for the K1 Fiancee visa to marry and live in the States.
I was wanting to know what background checks are done on the 'Alien' fiancee and if they check up on the employment information and what money is earnt.

By ImmigrationHelp on Monday, April 29, 2002 - 10:07 pm:

Dear Anonymous:

Any information provided on any of the petitions or applications is subject to being checked. Therefore, make sure that all the information you and your fiance provide is correct. Good luck.

By Anonymous on Monday, April 29, 2002 - 11:50 pm:

Thank you. But would it be a problem with the 'Alien' fiance not earning a great amount of money. Would they check up on that and question that?

By ImmigrationHelp on Tuesday, April 30, 2002 - 11:51 pm:

Dear Anonymous:

It is not really important what the alien makes. What is important is that the US petitioner make enough to support the alien. Good luck.

My daughter is in America on a b-2 visa valid until 2012. Became engaged here to her American boyfriend. Wedding planned for August in Florida. Applied and got a joint job in Tanzania which begins June 1st. Can she return in August for the wedding with no difficulty. We are permanant residents.

She has a JI visa pending which was applied for in December of last year there is a considerable backlog. If there are problems can she marry on a visa waiver

I am to be married to a German citizen who is here legally on an H1B work visa. What process must I go through to marry him (I am the American). Since he is here legally already, he won't need to leave the country while waiting for paperwork to go through, will he? Please let us know what we need to do and where we should go (we are in Viginia)

Hello. My spouse has a k3 visa appointment in the dominican republic march 18. with her appointmet she receive several forms including a ds156, and a ds156k. I'm a little confused since we are already married, does she still have to fill out form ds156k. In the first package she did not have form ds156k, but due to a delay at the embassy we waited an addiotional 2 months for an appointmet and now that form is included. thank you.
