I am a citizen and I filed a petition for my spouse in May of 2000. He was going to have to go to Juarez but now with the new law - is adjusting in San Antonio. I have my receipt notice but not the approval notice. Can I go ahead and file the adjustment and employment authorization with the receipt notice.

We would suggest that you file a new I-130 petition (with fee) with the adjustment of status application and other documents. It will be much faster than trying to track down the other petition. Make sure that you put on part D of the I-130 that you previously filed a petition and that it is pending. Good luck.
