Hi,
Dear Anonymous:
As you mentioned I was sent a letter to go and get my fingerprint taken after about 14 months from my I-485 interview. Now my question is 1) how long does it usually take to have the fingerprint checked and in turn reported to INS by FBI?
Dear Anonymous:
hi
Hi,
Hi,
The fingerprints of an applicant are run against what criminal databases? What are the search criteria INS has for the fingerprinting checks?Do they run against database of each state of the Union?
I have a I-485 pending. My adjustment of status Interview was conducted about 15 months ago. My fingerprint was taken at an INS designated finger print location about 2 months prior to my interview. So all together it's about 17 months my finger print was taken. After my interview in New York INS office, I did not hear from INS for all that time even though I filed the inquiry forms for a number of times. Now I received a letter from INS to go and get my finger print done at the same finger print office where my previous finger print was taken.
So I am wondering 1)why do I need to take the finger print again and 2)do I need to pay any fee at this time and 3)how long will it take after fingerprint to hear from INS again, since the letter doesn't specify all that in details.
I thank you very much if you can kindly answer regarding these issues.

You need to take your fingerprints again because they are more than one year old. The old prints were probably already run with the FBI, therefore they are not usable. You need new prints so that the checks can be run again.
Since the delay is the fault of INS, you do not have to pay the fingerprinting fee again.
We cannot give you a definite answer as to how long it will take to finish your case, as each case is different, and processing times change from month to month. According to the INS, your type of case in New York is currently taking about 570 days to process. That means you should have your case completed within the next 6 months. Good luck.

2) Do INS promptly work on case if fingerprint (2nd time) report is sent to them by FBI?
3) My whole concern is how long will it take from my second time fingerprint taken to be contacted by INS?
Thank you very much.

As we stated before, we don't know how long it will take INS to schedule you for your appointment. It takes less than 120 days for the FBI to clear the prints. Good luck.

I filed my 1-485 last October 2002 and recently I was laid
off from the company. Up to now, my fingerprint and picture
have not taken yet by INS. Please let me know if my green
card was canceled or I still have a chance to get my green
card.

I have an I-485 pending. My adjustment of status Interview was conducted about 10 months ago. My fingerprint was taken at an INS designated finger print location about 3 months prior to my interview. So all together it's about 13 months my finger print was taken. After my interview in Los Angeles INS office, the officer told me that for some reason he did not know, FBI still check on my finger print. it need maximum 120days for FBI clear finger print, and now I did not hear anything from INS for more than 300 days ( all the document has been completed). Should I file an inquiry or just wait ?
