In a previous conversation...I posted the story of my daughter who was born in Jordan, and how we could not bring her into the US until I obtained my US citizenship. She is now coming in May 2001 as an immigrant. I am a US citizen, my 6 yr old son is a US citizen, and wife is a perm. resident.
Dear Fadi:
My niece has an Indian passport, she wants to come and visit us what do we have to do. My niece is in India.
My parents have 10 years multiple entry to US. During their visit to US on March 2004 , my father expired in US on june 24th,2004. I and my husband are green card holders. Is there a way I can keep my mother with me for good. I also know that i'll be receiving US citizenship in two years and it would be much easier then. But before that is there any possibility of getting her permenant residence or any other temperory dependent visa so that she can be with me.
During her 3 year stay in Jordan....she was cared for by her grand parents and a nanny...the nanny is from SeriLanka.....the question is:
How easy (or difficult) is it to bring the nanny into the US? what kind of visa is she be eligable for, if any? she has 5 years of nanny exp and a mere middle school education....
Thanks
Fadi

It will not be easy. You would have to file an application for labor certification on her behalf, which process can take many years.
The consul is not likely to issue a visitor's visa to her, since it appears that her intent is to reside in the US permanently. Also, it does not appear that she can qualify for any working non-immigrant visa.
If you wish to discuss any of these matters further, we would suggest that you speak with an immigration law attorney who specializes in labor certifications. Good luck.
