I finally recieved the letter telling me they approved and sent my file off to Guangzhou. Approximately how long before my wife gets her interview letter? Are there any more steps in this process before the interview?
Dear Jason:
Sorry for not being more specific. I married my wife in China back in June/2000. Came back to the US and filed the I130. Recieved approval notice with a priority date of July 17th. Then recieved package from the National Visa Center. Filled out all forms and sent in. Waited almost 3 months and recieved a letter from NVC that file was sent off to Guangzhou. I know I'm almost home free but would still like to know the estimated time for the interview they will give her. I heard it's about a month. Could I really be that close? Thanks for your response.

We need some more information to answer your question properly. On what basis is your wife applying for a visa? If it is an immigrant visa, in what preference category was it filed, and what is the priority date? Who notified you that the file was sent to Guangzhou, the Immigration Service or the National Visa Center?
As soon as we receive a reply to the above, we will see if we can answer your questions.

The last information we have is that it is not taking more than a few months for the final interview. Perhaps one of our readers who has processed a case recently in Guangzhou can give you more specific information. Also, you can always call the consul and ask them, since they are the ones who would be most familiar with their current processing times. Good luck.
