I've applied for the Section 245(i)and now received my interview date on December 2001. I married a US Citizen last month but I've been living with for the past 2 years. My question is... I been working illegally for almost a decade now using my real social security number however on a fake card to hide the "NOT VALID FOR EMPLOYMENT". When it came to employers, I've claimed I was a US citizen and just basially showed my Driver's License. I've never said that though to any goverment official since I've always avoided them. I've also been paying my taxes ever since I've been working. Will INS deny my application due to this? Will I get in trouble?
Dear Anonymous:
Thanks for replying to my question. I do have an attorney but can't seem to get in touch with her yet. However, I've read on ILW.COM chat page and i'm going to quote it here:
Dear Anonymous:
Dear sir:
Dear Ken:
I applied for a work athorization permit. I was denied under section 12a or c. They said I did not file for an adjustment of status yet, they have just received the petition. On the slip that said I was denied, it had an Alien Number assigned to me. My question is, Can I get a social secutity card with that number andopen a bank account or get a drivers lincess, eventhough I am not planning on working.
Dear Ken:
Minor correction: IRS assigns TPIN, not Social Security Administration.
I would like to know what will be the action on submitting the facke marksheet to consulate for H1
I bought a car here in the USA but live in England I want to get insurance on the car. I come to the USA 3 to 4 months a year. But i can not get insurance or a drivers liense . I need to have my car protected when I am not here.

Because your case possibly involves criminal matters, you should provide all of the information to an immigration law attorney and seek his or her advice.
It may be that none of your actions violate any criminal laws, and it is possible that none of your actions would affect your immigration case. However, just to be sure, you should get a thorough evaluation of your case prior to going to your immigration interview. Good luck.

Transcript of Chat held on:April 28, 2000
with Attorney Robert Hollander
"Q: I said before, he has a fake social security card and a fake green card.
A: A fake social security card is not legal, but not an INS problem. A fake green card is an immigration violation. But it can be waived if your I-601 is granted."
I hope for my sake all goes well.. Thanks for your response.

Thanks for your comments. As we said before, you should be all right, but because of the potential problems with IRS, it would be a good idea to discuss everything with an attorney before the interview. Best wishes.

If I have aan Alien Number, but not Employment authorization, is it possible to get a social security card and use it to get a drivers license?
By ImmigrationHelp on Wednesday, May 16, 2001 - 06:02 pm:
In order to answer your question we would need to know on what basis you obtained an alien number. If you will give us the information, we will try to answer your question.

You are not authorized to obtain a social security card just because INS has issued an Alien number to you, unless you also have authorization to be employed in the US.
Even though you cannot obtain a social security card, you can apply for a taxpayer identification number, from the social security office, that will permit you to open a bank account and, in many states, apply for a driver's license. It will not, however, permit you to work. Good luck.
