Dear Anonymous:
Hi.
Furhermore, I lostthe title of my car about three years back and tried to contact owner through phone and letters but he did not respond.
He called me today saying that he will sue me because somehow he was arrested for the parking ticket that I did not pay for the car. I did not know of this ticket. But since the car was on his name the ticket went to him and apparently he was arrested on that charge.
q)Can this effect my naturalization as this seems
Q) Is not trasferring the title to your name is a major crime and can prevent you from naturalization? I was completely unware of this and I think I have nothing to do with his arrest as I have kept my record clean.
What should I do. I am swearing in early next month.
I will hire a attorney but could you please shed some light on this issue to give me some know how. I would greatly appreciate. This thing has completely came out of the blue.
Can I still go ahead and naturalize?
Thanks very much.

A traffic ticket will not prevent you from being naturalized. Even the N-400 application states that you may exclude traffic tickets.
While we are not criminal defense attorneys, our preliminary opinion is that you have not committed any type of criminal law violation. At the most, it appears that you might be civilly liable if the arrest was caused by your negligence or improper action. For that, you should consult with an attorney who specializes in that type of law. In any event, since you have not been charged with any criminal law violation, there would be no need to report it to INS. Good luck.

The issue in your case is whether you are statutorily eligible for naturalization. You must show that you have been a person of good moral character for the 5 years immediately preceding the filing of the application.
If INS determines that the crime for which you were convicted is a crime involving moral turpitude, then your application will be denied.
You should take a copy of the police report, court disposition, and copy of the pertinent statute to an immigration law attorney for his or her advice. Good luck.

I had my citizenship interview today and passed. The officer told me that the next swearing in process was in July/August, and that they would send me out a letter, probably 3 weeks before when I am to go. My mom got her swearing in notification for July 1, today(June 9)... is there a way I can contact the INS and see if I can be sworn in at the same time? THANKS!!!
