Please let me know what is the Selective Service Registration? My husband is scheduled for interview and on the request for interview we received from INS is stated that he must bring:"any evidence of Selective Service Registration".We don't know what is that and if we have it or not!
Dear Maim:
Hello,
I got accidently registered for selective service while transfering my drivers license from one state to another.. I am on h1 visa (non-immigrant alien).. I want to cancel it now ... Will this affect my GC processing if I ever apply for it ??? Does this information reflect on our soc. security ???
Thank you!

If your husband is between the ages of 18 and 26 he must register with the Selective Service. In that way, in case of war or a national emergency, he can be drafted into the armed forces of the United States.
If your husband had already reached the age of 26 when he came to the US, or in certain other situations, he may not have been required to register.
For more information on this subject, please go to the following site: http://www.sss.gov/inslink.htm Good luck.

I am a GC holder. I will be eligible for Naturalization failry soon. I just found out about this "registration with the Selective Service". I was never aware of this, and now I am 38yrs old. I was here in the US at age 24 on an F1 visa, which expired in early 91. I must have been out of status for a few months before turning 26. Will this affect my N-400 process? Do I have to register? if so, when? Thank you.
