Dear Immigration Help,
Dear Robert:
when applying for Naturalization it is necessary to be a person of good moral character.
My question is :for how long?For 5 years immediate to aplication ,or for as long as one has been residing here?

You must be a person of good moral character for at least the 5 years immediately preceeding the filing of the application. However, INS still retains the right to go beyond the 5 years to see whether there is something in your background that would indicate that you are still not a person of good moral character.
