Dear Jerry:

You should check with the consulate of any country that you intend to travel to, to see what type of visa or other document might be required for entry to that particular country.

The vast majority of countries will require that you have some type of visa. Good luck.

My mother is green card holder. She has got re-entry permit.Expiry date on re entry permit is mentioned as Jan,2004.Does it mean that she has to go to USA before that date?

Dear Immigration help,
I posted my above mentioned query on 12th June.Today is 17th & no reply.Have you terminated this service?

By ImmigrationHelp on Tuesday, June 18, 2002 - 09:11 pm:

Dear Anonymous:

If you read our posts every day, you will see that we have not terminated this service. However, because of the large number of inquiries, and other commitments to keep the web site up-to-date, it sometimes takes several days to get to all questions.

In response to your above question, the answer is Yes. Good luck.

I am using my 3rd reentry permit right now which will expire on September this year. Since becoming a Lawful permanent Resident on 1995, I have maintained my status by just going to the US bringing along my unexpired reentry permit and after a month go back to my native country to finish my course in school. Before going home I usually apply for the reentry permit. From 1995 up to the present I have stayed out of the US for 7 years. Will the INS bar my return once I arrived in the US on August this year? What documents should I bring so I will be admitted? I will be staying in the US this August for good. Please help me.

The reentry permit of my daughter as well as her greencard has the same error or contain mispelled surname. We are going back to the US by July. Will this be a problem? Both greencard and reentry permit have the same informations?

Dear Immigration Help,
I am a Filipino citizen bearing a green card. I wish to go to my country of origin, Philippines this September and intend to obtain my degree in 8 months. I am aware that I need a re-entry permit to go back here in the US. I would like to inquire about the process, where and when can I request for one. Is it true that it is also possible to apply for re-entry in the Philippines, during my stay there? Thank you.

Dear Anonymous:

As long as your re-entry permit is still valid, you should have no problem in re-entering the US. However, you are technically not eligible to obtain another re-entry permit at this time. Therefore, you should make plans to begin living in the US on a permanent basis, otherwise you could very well have problems upon future entries to the US. Good luck.

Dear Anonymous:

You do not state what the problem is with the green card. However, if it is only a minor typographical error, she should not have any problems upon entry. She should carry with her a document that contains the correct information, just in case she is asked. Good luck.

Dear Anonymous:

You must file for your re-entry while you are in the US, but you can receive it in the Philippines. Technically, you do not need a re-entry unless you are going to be out for more than one year, but it is probably a good idea to get one.

Go to our Home page, click on the link entitled Free Immigration Forms and go to the I-131 form. This has complete instructions on what you need to do to obtain a re-entry permit. Good luck.

I have a valid Chinese passport and will take the oath for
U.S. citizenship on Dec 20 '02. I think I will receive a
document that says I am a U.S. citizen on that day. I need
to travel to China on December 23. Do I need a U.S.
passport to reenter the U.S.? Will the document suffice?

Hi , friends,I came to usa from india as a green card holder in july 2002 with family. 2 of my brothers are us citizens in connecticut and california. 1 sister and 1 brother are canadian citizens for last 21 years.
Because of a death in the family I had to change my plans and shift base to canada. I came to canada in July 2003 and got a work permit from September 2003 for one year. I have been visiting u.s.a. off and on in last 1 year.by car to buffalo or michigan. last I visited about 1 month ago. Now my children want to join buffalo university from Sep. 2004. I plan to rent an apt. in my name in buffalo but me and my wife will be staying for at least 1 more year in canada. I have bank account, credit card in u.s.a I have filed Tax returns in both canada and u.s.a.My question is :
Do I really require to apply for RE Entry permit once I have a house in buffalo and I keep coming and going to buffalo.Where and when should I apply for the same. What else I have to keep in mind under this situation when crossing border.
