Hello, I would like to know what I should do to obatain my son automatic citizenship. He has recently entered the U.S. with a visitor's visa and I am a citizen. Is he able to become a citizen this way, if so, how do I start? His permission to stay expires shortly. Thank You.

My mother already went to her Citizenship inteview and did't pass the test. She could not even begin because of the neurvousness and because she does not know much English. She has attempted to study for years but has never been able to retain it in her head. She just received an appointment for a second interview in 2 months. I would like to know if we can go to a doctor and ask them to fill out a N-648. Could we submit it before the appointment? what are the chances of being approved?
In any case that is not possible. Could we postpone the interview for later. They ask for a reason what is a reason that they are expecting to hear?

In order to be successful with the N-648, the doctor would have to certify that your mother is unable to learn the answers to the questions because of some physical or mental problem. If she does in fact have such a problem, the letter could be submitted at the time of the interview.
If you need to, you can request a continuance of the naturalization interview. Usually, INS will grant one continuance based on any reasonable request, such as illness, emergency travel, etc. Good luck.

Probably yes, however, an INS decision to grant or deny a continuance is discretionary, so we cannot say for certain what their response may be. Good luck.

It appears that your son is eligible to obtain a certificate of US citizenship if you meet the residency requirements. The application should be filed while he is still lawfully in the US.
