I sent the required police records that INS had asked for in the naturalization interview. This was in response to the "continuance letter". I mailed through USPS certified mail reciept requested. It has been a week and I still have not received the reciept back? I suspect that the it has been lost in the mailail was local in Houston where I live. I had 30 days to mail the documents. If INS does not recienve these documents at all what are my alterntives. Supposedly the case will be closed in 30 days ( by july 12 ). I have waited long enough for this. What should I do at this moment assuming that my mail along with court records has been lost. Any suggestions. Thanks for your help in advance.

The burden of proving that you sent the requested documents is yours. A week is not very long to wait for the return receipt, as it usually takes us up to 10 days to get a receipt back. Also, sometimes you won't get the receipt back, but the mail was in fact delivered.
You can take your certified mail stub to your post office and they can check to see if your mail was delivered.
In the worst case scenario, you will have to notify INS that you did in fact mail everything, by showing them your original receipt, and send them a new set of documents. Good luck.
