We have temporarily removed the Local Immigration Office Processing Times from our site as we learned that many of the times provided were not completely accurate and up-to-date.
We are in the process of compiling new statistics from a private source that will contain the best and most current information available. We hope to have the information posted within the next few weeks. In the meantime, if you have the need for current processing times from a particular office, please let us know, and we will see if we have that information available. Good luck.

1. How long is the processing for citizenship in, San Jose, California?
2. Does the processing time usually start from the notice date or priority date?
3. Is it true that senior applicants would have to wait longer than younger ones?
Again, thank you very much for the help.

Unfortunately, San Jose is way behind on naturalization cases and it is currently taking about 2-3 years. The processing time starts from the date on which the application was received by the INS office. We are not aware that San Jose is giving any priority to newly-filed cases. Good luck.

my Perm Green Card. My ex-husband most likely sent court
papers to INS. Is it risky to leave US and come back? My green
card expires in Nov 2004. Can an immigration officer at the
border scan my card and see that I am not married any more
and therefore have no reason to be in the US? What can happen?

This is actually a pretty serious problem. My friend graduated in may 2004 and applied for his optional practical training(OPT) on the same month. Due to some letharginess on the part of the international office, the OPT application was filed late to the INS on June 9th. My friend got a letter indicating that his OPT has been rejected because the international office applied late. Now they say that he is out of status and has to leave the country. He has a job offer in hand and does'nt have a H1-B sponsorship. Is there any way that he could get an extension from the INS say for about 2 months so that he could apply for his H1-B. I would greatly appreciate a solution to this as he is totally wasting his career.
