Where to File Application for Adjustment of Status (I-485)
When Employee Moves From Office to Office

November 9, 2000

Q. Where is an application for adjustment of status filed in the case of an itinerant employee, when the labor certification is filed and processed in the jurisdiction of the employer's main office or the office to which the employee reports, and the I-140 is filed in the Service Center that has jurisdiction over the employer office?

A. The Immigration Service advises that the I-485 can either be filed in the jurisdiction where the I-140 was filed, or in the jurisdiction of the employee's residence.
