Anytime you travel outside the United States, the most important document that you must have with you at all times is your U.S. Passport. In extreme circumstances, it could mean the difference between a matter of life or death. When overseas, the passport tells a foreign country where you are from and how you are to be treated. When coming back to the United States, the passport tells the Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) officers that you rightfully belong in the United States.
Your passport can be renewed in person, at a local passport facility, or by mail, depending on your individual circumstance. Use the different tabs below to learn more.

Q1. What if I am in dire need of a U.S. passport and I don’t have the time to go through the application process? If you really need to obtain a passport and do not have the necessary time to go through the application process then you should schedule an appointment to be seen at a Regional Passport Agency. However, there are certain criteria you must meet in order to qualify for this special service. You must need to have the passport within two weeks for the purpose of traveling abroad internationally, or you must need the passport within four weeks for the purpose of obtaining a foreign visa.
Q2. What if I am overseas and my passport has expired? May I renew it while abroad? If your passport is stolen or lost while you are located in another country you need to notify the local police force and the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate as soon as possible. The U.S. consul is capable of issuing replacement passports and you may be able to receive a new passport within twenty-four hours.
